In efforts to tackle the rising spate of criminality and insecurity in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has called on all governors in the federation to partner local communities. According to Buhari in a statement released by the president's aide on media, Garba Shehu, this will help improve local intelligence gathering. He said most importantly, this will aid the work of security agencies in tackling the insecurity menace.
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged governors to work with local chiefs to keep the country safe and peaceful. Also, the president said his administration had done well in the North East and South-South, adding that the South-South situation was still worrisome.
The president was quoted to have said:
“Every day I get situation reports about illegal refineries and the blowing up of pipelines. You must stop local rogues from sabotaging oil installations,’’
he also said. “Security is important and we must secure the whole country We are thinking very hard on the issue of kidnapping. We will make it possible for the military to get to the bandits and kidnappers and eliminate them.’’
